Therapeutic exercises are used to restore and maintain strength, endurance, flexibility, stability and balance. The objective of therapeutic exercises is to help you get back to a fully functioning, pain-free condition.
Our physical therapists begin your treatment by conducting a thorough evaluation of your physical capabilities through both a medical history and physical assessment. The therapist then uses their knowledge to create a treatment plan that typically includes a progressive exercise program that is customized to your needs. Our therapists monitor your progress and update the plan as needed.
Exercises that may be included in your therapeutic exercise plan include:
- Strengthening exercises that are normally performed with heavy resistance and a low number of repetitions.
- Endurance exercises that engage large muscle groups over a long period of time.
- Flexibility exercises that use stretching and movement.
- Balance and coordination exercises that help you maintain your center of gravity.
