Our Philosophy on Treatment

Have you been referred for physical therapy by and doctor or surgeon, but have never had physical therapy before? If so, you may be wondering what exactly goes into physical therapy treatment.

Well, here at Leader Therapy we use a three-prong approach for treating patients, which includes exercise, hands-on treatment, and modalities. Each of these components plays an important role in helping you achieve your goals and improve your overall function.

First, let’s talk about exercise. Exercise is an essential component of physical therapy treatment. It helps to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance, which are all important for good physical function. Your physical therapist will create a custom exercise program with specific exercises that are tailored to your needs. These exercises may include stretches, strengthening exercises, and functional movements that simulate real-life activities.

Next, let’s discuss hands-on treatment, also known as manual therapy. This type of treatment involves your therapist using their hands to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of your body. The goal of hands-on treatment is to improve mobility, reduce pain, and promote healing. Some examples of hands-on treatment techniques include massage, joint mobilizations, and myofascial release.

Finally, let’s talk about modalities. Modalities are techniques or tools that your physical therapist may use to help manage pain, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Modalities may include heat and cold therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, MPS, and others. The specific modalities used will depend on your individual needs.

So, why is each of these components important? Exercise helps to improve strength and mobility, which are essential for good physical function. Hands-on treatment can help to reduce pain and improve mobility, while modalities can help manage pain and reduce inflammation. Together, these three components work to help you achieve your goals and improve your overall function.

Here at Leader Therapy we use this three-prong approach because we have found it to be the most beneficial for a patents overall recovery. Our mission here is to help people get better and stay active and this treatment styles produce the quickest and best results for that.
